In addition to my fondness for Cyber Security, I attended a workshop on “Cyber Security” at NIT Warangal where I learned about the basics of Hacking, Penetration testing tools, and Secure Programming. Also, I have done a few Certifications from Cybrary in “Penetrating Testing & Ethical Hacking” and “Metasploit”. I have given a presentation on “Ethical Hacking” at GITAM University National Tech Fest, ISQUARER-2K17.
Cyber Security is not constrained to a single domain or technology, so in order to gain knowledge on Various Technologies my progress started with Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification in Database Fundamentals 2017. I became thoroughly conversant with programming languages like C, C++, Java and Python, PHP, JavaScript, SQL, Angular Js, Node Js, Bootstrap, CSS, and Html. In addition to my interest in Programming, I have done a Certification Course in Algorithms from Stanford University offered through Coursera. Each new tech skill I picked up felt like adding another tool to my security toolkit. Along with the mainstream subject knowledge I participated in IBM Certification Course on J2EE and Bigdata offered by our College in Collaboration with IBM. I attended a workshop on Artificial Intelligence by the Japanese Company “Exa-Intelligence”.
After completing my graduation, I started working with Cognizant Technology Solutions, India, where I worked on Documentum D2 (Enterprise Content Management) Java Application. My role required me to develop a web application to store valuable content from all over the enterprise in a safe and secure place between the Novartis International AG Group’s client and their customers. Being well-equipped with Programming knowledge and good interpersonal skills, I often took the responsibility to develop new modules for the security aspects of the project. Working hands-on with security made me hungry to learn more.
Apart from the key responsibilities, I took part in various cultural and people development activities at both project and organizational levels. I look forward to pursuing my master's in Cyber Security abroad.
After deciding on my course “Masters in Cyber Security”, I started doing ample research on various options available abroad. Studying cryptography and advanced cryptography with the option to choose machine learning as an elective really intrigues me as these methodologies could easily be intertwined to develop new measures. I genuinely believe that the Master’s program in Cyber Security offered at your esteemed university will help me to hone my technical and management skills and drive confidence to approach any constraints in managing technical convolutions in any organization.
Sometimes I think back to my school days, trying to rescue that broken hard drive. Just me, sitting there for hours, refusing to give up until I cracked it. That same feeling hit me at Cognizant when I first spotted a security gap in our client's system - that rush of 'I need to fix this'. Sure, degrees matter. But what really drives me is that moment when something clicks, when I finally spot the vulnerability everyone else missed. Through all the late nights coding and security tests at Cognizant, I've learned that this is what I want to keep doing - finding ways to protect systems before they break.
