The benchmarks to be accepted into the National Honor Society are scholarship, representation of these qualities, and furthermore, that I am capable of acceptance into this esteemed organization. Over the past two years at Walled Lake Western, I strongly believe that I have been a strong candidate for all of these characteristics.
My academic achievements throughout the years are examples of my hard work and commitment to my education. Creating the future that I dream of takes a great deal of effort, but when I want to achieve something, I always find a way to get it. If I became a member of the NHS it would help me achieve my goal and help me become that person that I aspire to be. My GPA of 4.00 and 3.974 in 9th and 10th grades prove my worth and allegiance to myself and my studies. I have also been on the honor roll every quarter during my three years at Geisler Middle School. I have participated in many events that have piqued my interest and made me a more curious and informed member of society. One of these is being a part of the Model UN club at WLW this year. I first joined the club because I have an interest in politics and global events. But as I participated in conferences and became more invested in the club itself, I learned how to develop arguments and stand my ground about important issues in our community.
My family and I moved to America from India when I was in 4th grade. Being the new kid in class is never easy, but being from a different country is a completely different story. Most of the kids were welcoming to me when I first arrived but as time went on I realized that many people didn’t think of me as a friend. But having a support system helped me realize that I could overcome this and that I shouldn’t let others dictate my life. But it wasn’t until I felt that same way in high school that I realized it was a predominant issue with many students. By joining the NHS, I hope to participate in multiple anti-bullying campaigns and use my voice to help bullied children understand their worth and importance.
